I personally don't believe that they could be both at the same time, but I am not a Democrat so...I'm remembering the Infocom game Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.
As part of the game, you had to enter your head and grab the last speck
of reason. Then you could pickup "Tea" and "No Tea" at the same time.
