Equal time

Trump is now demanding equal time to counter the January 6 Commission's
public hearings.
Never mind that the whole concept of "equal time" was destroyed by Reagan, paving the way for Rush Limbaugh and, eventually, Fox News.
Never mind that Trump enjoyed 5 years of free television time, before and during his term as president.
No, I can think of only two possibilities that would lead Trump to "demand" equal time:
1. He has not actually requested "equal time" from any of the networks,
instead using his absence from television to portray himself as a victim of
the media, or
2. He has actually requested "equal time" and was laughed at by the usual suspects like CNN, PBS, ABC, CBS, NBC, and MSNBC, but also Fox News, NewsMax, *and* OAN.
I don't know which makes him more of a loser.
