Anyone else listen to the Black Keys?

I've been a fan for about 10 or 11 years. Going to see them in concert Monday in Athens, GA. Looking forward to it. Been a while since I've seen anyone live.

Never heard of them. Sounds like a Rock/Blues mix style and twangy guitars. I like a softer guitar sound akin to Dire Straits.

That's exactly what it is. Very bluesy rock for the most part.

    Hi Richard,
    ...Greets from my Telegram app!

That's exactly what it is. Very bluesy rock for the most part.

I also appreciate a band that can mix it up with a rock-ballad and generally display a mix of styles.

I can't even remember the exact date when I last saw a live band. Let's see if I recall... I've seen over the decades:

Nash the Slash, Rush, Billy Joel, Men Without Hats, The Box, Roxy Music, Jennifer Warnes, Dollie Deluxe, Melissa Manchester, Sass Jordan, Carolyn Maas, Gordon Lightfoot, Bryan Adams, Luba, Tom Cochrane, Colin James, Bruce Cockburn, Leonard Cohen, Holy Cole, Gowan, Loreena McKennitt, Long John Baldry, Jacob Moon, David Wilcox, ..and even Nana Mouskouri. Don't judge me! LOL

I'm sure I've missed recalling a few more.

I'm sure the bands appreciate a good turnout, 'cuz all the prep (moving, setting-up, sound-checks, dealing with tech problems) is a lot of work for the band and crew.

    Ciao!

I *did* miss at least one more in the list: Chris DeBurgh
(Maple Leaf Gardens, Toronto). That one was quite the
experience. The stage was set up at one of the narrow ends. I
and my friends were pretty high in the "nose bleeds" at the
OPPOSITE narrow end corner. Couldn't really see the little guy
on stage much at all. It was pathetic to use binoculars, but
    that's what I did.

After that experience I pretty much bowed out of any concerts
unless I could get within 15-20 rows of the stage in a large
    venue.

Wasn't as much of a huge fan of that album (Turn Blue) as the rest. Change can be good but it was definitely a departure from their normal blues based music. You can still hear some of it on there, just...softer maybe.

Of course they did say they wanted to record an album with some 60s psychedelic roots. That's why the big change.

    Hello Stas!

Sometimes I listen to these guys with pleasure. ;) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uT3SBzmDxGk https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nji5zvkuuFg

They rely on visuals to be entertaining. I remember seeing and
hearing about them a few years ago. Good videos. But I am
not sure if I could listen to their music *just* as music.

I do prefer the mellow sound of cello over a screetching
violin. I own some CDs by Ofra Harnoy. She made classical fresh
and interesting by applying the instrument to contemporary
    pieces too.

My first exposure to a true classical/rock fusion crossover was
Dollie DeLuxe (80s), and Rick Wakeman's Journey to the Centre
    of the Earth ('74)

Oh yes.. I remember you posted about that group a few months
ago. I never heard of them before. I haven't explored more of
that material though. Maybe it's time for a revisit.

I love how this lady isn't afraid to challenge norms:

She appreciates a good rock treatment to traditional classic
    material.
