An editor that creates a message can use a PID kludge. I don't think there is a standard for a general notes tag name. So you can make up your own. But before you have your software add such a thing to every message it creates, you should ask yourself what use it is to other systems, to have this information in every message. Kludge lines are not meant for human consumption, most readers don't even see them...

    Bye, Wilfred.

The FTN kludge (control paragraph) used for message editor/version is called "NOTE". FTSC_PUBLIC would be a better echo to ask such questions though.

I suppose that is a Synchronet extension? No where is it documented by the FTSC...

SBBSecho will add the kludge, but Synchronet/SBBSecho didn't introduce it. I first saw the NOTE kludge used in this way with external message editors such as QuikEdit and DCTEdit.

That mostly explains why synchronet does it differently. I think those reasons are debatable. But you are also right the standard says "should" and not "must"...

So someone should write a ftsc proposal for this kludge. Aren't you a ftsc member? ;-)
