My Beemer is a '10 w/230K miles (370K KM) and I expect it to be the
last car I'll buy. No rust and mechanically sound. Change the oil every 10K miles (when BMW says to, BTW) and fix little glitches as they
appear (not often).
I looked it up and Ford wants the oil changed every 5 thousand klms. That's fine I only drive about that or less a year anyway. When you
don't have to drive to Toronto every day you don't rack up the klms.
I have a Sunday gig taking old folks from the senior living
residence(s) to various churches. Then picking them up after services
to take them back to the facility or to a local restaurant for a brunch buffet. As a "perk" the restaurant comps by meal.
That's a nice perk for sure!
Takes me the rest of Sunday to get the aromas of Maybelline face powder and Apple Spice perfume out of my nostrils, though.
Laugh, I understand that. I used to drive taxi Sunday's and it would
take until wednesday to air out the cab. hahaha

Which is a hold-over from the (not so) "good old days" before oil filters and modern oils. All conventional oils have an additive pack that is good for 5000 miles (8000 KM). The filter traps physical particles and the additives neutralise chemical/combustion contaminants for that long. The synthetics are good for 10,000 miles/16,000 klicks.
My Beemer, which uses full-synthetic oil, specs an oil change/service at 10,000 miles.

Better than party-hearty puke though. Bv)=

I'm going to look up switching to synthetic - not for the longer life
span but the high miliage on the motor I'm wondering if it will help
keep it running longer. I hope I don't have to replace this for a
number of years.

Ohhhh yeah!

I used to go a year before an oil change with some of my vehicles
because I used Mobil 1 oil and filter. It was a bit spendy but it was cheaper than constant oil changes though at the time, I'd be lucky to
go 10K miles a year though now with my parents living 30-40 minutes
away (each way), I'd rack up more mileage.

Check out the synthetic blend "high mileage" oils that nearly all
makers have available. There is an additive package in them that helps
to coat/ fill pits on cylinder walls, etc. It also is said to free up
the oil rings on the pistons. And, it is claimed, reduce oil
consumption.
I once told a guy that a successful bouncer is not the big ox-like guy
who can one-hand an unruly patron but the guy who knows the exact
moment an obnoxious drunk is going to hork on his shoes. Bv)=
In Russia we not't need one hand too, becouse self-drive carz)Is this hands-free car?
Not hardly. It requires at leasy one hand on the steering wheel at all times the vehicle is in motion. "Cruise control" only manages the
throttle and maintains a steady speed.

I used to use Lucas treatment in my taxi's when they got over 300k. It did help reduce oil consumption for sure. The shop I use now is right next door to the biggest auto parts place in Oshawa so it doesn't take long to get special orders. The counter guy walks them over when he needs a smoke break. hahaha

It's true though. I got a second sense for puke. I once pulled
over and the guy was like why are we stopping? I said you're about
to hurl, open the door and get out when you do please.
