    Title: Internet-Famous Crispy Potatoes
    Categories: Five, Potatoes, Herbs
    Yield: 6 servings

4 lb Yukon gold or redskin
    - potatoes
lg Handful salt (for the water)
    Olive or avocado oil or
    - goose fat

    MMMMM-----------------------SEASONINGS-------------------------------
    Fresh rosemary
    Old Bay seasoning
    Maldon salt
    Black pepper
    Cayenne pepper
    Sweet Hungarian paprika
    Garlic powder

    MMMMM-------------------FLAVORFUL GARNISH----------------------------
    Chopped parsley or dill

    Set your oven @ 450-|F/232-|C.

Clean and cut the potatoes into your desired size and
place them in a pot of cold water. Add a handful of salt
and bring to a boil. Cook 10-15 minutes, until they are
    almost fork-tender.

Drain the potatoes and use a spoon to rough-up the edges
of them. This increases the surface area, which will
give them more places to get crispy.

Transfer the potatoes onto a half-sheet pan. Drizzle
with the oil and seasonings. Make sure everything is
lightly but evenly coated in the oil and seasonings.

Roast 15-25 minutes (every oven is different so go by
appearance not by a timer) and toss the potatoes around
a couple times while they roast.

When the potatoes look near perfectly crispy, turn off
the oven and let them sit in the oven with it off for
10-15 minutes. My mom inadvertently found out that this
gets them extra crispy when she originally just started
doing it so she could prepare the potatoes in advance!

Finish with fresh, tender dill or parsley.

09 August 1991 - SOVIET PRESIDENT GORBACHEV UNDER HOUSE ARREST: The
'Gang of Eight,' unhappy with President Mikhail Gorbachev's policies,
attempt to take over the Soviet Union's government. Tanks patrol Moscow, Gorbachev is placed under house arrest, and tens of thousands of citizens are out in the streets protesting against the August coup.

The 1991 Soviet coup d'etat attempt, also known as the August Coup, was a failed attempt by hardliners of the Soviet Union's Communist Party to forcibly seize control of the country from Mikhail Gorbachev, who was Soviet President and General Secretary of the Communist Party at the time. The coup leaders consisted of top military and civilian officials, including Vice President Gennady Yanayev, who together formed the State Committee on the State of Emergency (GKChP). They opposed Gorbachev's reform program, were angry at the loss of control over Eastern European states and fearful of the USSR's New Union Treaty which was on the verge of being signed. The treaty was to decentralize much of the central Soviet government's power and distribute it among its fifteen republics.

The GKChP hardliners dispatched KGB agents, who detained Gorbachev at his holiday estate but failed to detain the recently elected president of a newly reconstituted Russia, Boris Yeltsin, who had been both an ally and critic of Gorbachev. The GKChP was poorly organized and met with effective resistance by both Yeltsin and a civilian campaign of anti-authoritarian protesters, mainly in Moscow. The coup collapsed in two days, and Gorbachev returned to office while the plotters all lost their posts.

Title: Boris & Natasha's Print Russian Katleti Recipe
Categories: Poultry, Pork, Vegetables, Herbs, Breads
    Yield: 9 Servings

    1 lb Ground pork
    1 lb Ground turkey
    1 md Onion graded
    1/2 c White bread crumbs
    1 Egg
    2 tb Fine chopped parsley
    1/2 ts Salt
    1/2 ts Garlic powder
    1/4 ts Ground pepper
    1 tb Mayo
    Olive Oil

    Grate onion and chop parsley.

Use mixer bowl to combine meat, 1/2 cup of bread crumbs,
spices (1/2 tsp salt, 1/2 tsp garlic powder, 1/4 tsp
ground pepper), 1 egg, 1 Tbsp of mayo, onion and
parsley. Mix everything well on a lower speed setting
(#3), or combine ingredients by hand if no mixer is
    available.

Form patties using ice cream scoop to make even
portions. Makes approx. 20 patties. (don't try to
flatten them once they are on the skillet or juices will
    seep out).

Heat about 4 Tbsp of olive oil over medium/high heat and
saute the patties (adding more oil if necessary) until
browned on both sides ( approx. 3 min on per side),
flipping twice so they don't burn. Set your oven to
    400+|F/205+|C.

Remove patties of the skillet and place them in a glass
baking dish. Cover dish with foil and bake for 10
    minutes.

    Enjoy!
