    Any hints on how to overcome this?

    there's some plastic spike mats on amazon. they're cheap.
    i used to have a sensor thing that sprayed air. it was expensive and ran out of batteries and broke easy.

    the plastic mats work.

    what do you mean corridor? you mean infront of the litterbox?
    keep the box clean, keep the litter off the floor and move the box around

    ... Swamp gas usually doesn't create sonic booms.

    Try newspaper. Cats love to pee on newspaper.

    they love to piss on plastic bags too.

    ... Tact is knowing how far to go in going too far.

    Nope... There is a corridor between the kitchen entrance and the dining hall, she just pisses there. The spike mats are a good alternative, I will check it out.
