anyone been using cockpit web console for linux yet? I actually installed it the other day thinking I was installing something else, and then forgot about, then just kinda "re-discovered" it when logging into my system remotely the other day, and this is a badass little suite of apps.. it works great for controlling synchronet and all my other apps via systemd and I've been playing with virtual machines on it today,, very cool.. I don't know how long it has been available, this is really the first I've ever heard of it. but it's cool as crap.

Reminds me of webmin, but much cooler. I'm going to put it on my

It is pretty cool. I've only dabbled with it a little. I typically manage my machines with a combination of Satellite and Ansible (at work). I'll have to revisit again at some point but, for my use case it wasn't something I would use on a regular basis since we already have other software for monitoring and the ones I already mentioned for management and updates.

If you have just a few machines you are managing it looks like a handy option though. I've enabled it for my RHEL machines in the event I do have a need for it later on.

the linux facebook groups are full of folks asking how to do the simplest things that would need to be done to navigate in linux, and everyone of them say they are using kali.. :) where are people hearing of kali as some elite, special thing? i don't get it...

Kali comes with a lot of pre-installed security testing tools. Like for wifi scanning and deauthing, for example, but other various network diagnostic
tools as well.

Don't know what your talking about, but I enjoy the flavor and the installed utilities. Each to their own I suppose.

Networkchuck on Youtube, and others, I suppose. Isn't that where
everybody learns nowadays?

I had an old Samsung Galaxy S3 that I was able to root and run LineageOS
on it. Ran a chrooted Kali Linux on it, that was a fun little
experiment.
