I was wondering if anyone knows why my PC would dump to desktop after loading a game with VM Player running.

I like to run a VM (KUbnmtu) on VM Ware Workstation 16. I run the most current version of Kubuntu, problem is a werid one because the the acutal VM itself isn't even running just the program to launch it. My Computer has 64Gig of RAM that should be plently. After ARK launches and I start to connect to a server it exits and dumps to the desktop. I have other games that does the same thing. Is there something I can edit in a config file? or Bios? After I close the VM player porgram (VM is not even running yet), everything is fine and runs normal again.

ask the vmware guys. check the logs.
it's probably some type of conflict.

Again the VM Player hasn't loaded anything.. No Log yet.

Obvious, some type of Conflict.. Thanks for the reply.. I'll try VM forum as well.

I asked here.. because I'm sure allot of people run some sort of Unix VM.

I'm thinking even though your VM isn't started, the hypervisor piece still grabs a hold of the video card/driver/whatever.

You sure you don't see anything in dmesg? Maybe do dmesg -w, hit enter a few times, and go replicate the problem.
