WELL, FOR SOME REASON, IT WANTS ALL
THE TEXT TO BE IN CAPS.

    DUNNO WHAT'S UP WITH THAT!

If you have a bit of time on your beeb, check out BeeBS. beebs.ddns.net:6502 (Terminal,8n1,Filtering Off,Mode7). Without your help earlier in the year I don't think I'd have figured it out!

Yeah looks good. I think I would probably have done it slightly differently similar to PETSCII with mode 7 running on a different port. This would let you set the parameters like 40 columns and have everything displayed as they should be. Of course, you'd have to write a bunch of your own stuff to make it work properly. I did start to try and integrate Mode 7 stuff with Synchronet but sort of stalled out. The big issue is you'd have to create an entire text.dat to support it.

As you know, the main problem is that while ANSI doesn't use any space, the Mode 7 control characters do so you'll have to account for those when working out word wrapping and spacing. Maybe I'll have another go when I'm in the mood.

Erm now I'm confused! Did you select BBC mode 7 at login? That should set all your parameters for Mode 7 and everything should diaplay correctly. A few people with Beebs and Arcs (or the webclient) connect with no issues reported. In commstar (or whatever comms package youre using) was it set to Terminal (notprestel). 8n1, linefeeds off and filtering off? Also not sure why eveeything isin caps for you (sending this from Beeb on BeeBS in mode 7...no caps).

If you get chance to reconnect please let me know what waant working for you. Cheers,
    Ed

It should be looking like this: beebs.ddns.net/BeeBS/My_Albums/Pages/BeeBS_28th_Nov_2024.html (or any other image on the website). The link to the web client is on the connecting page if that's better for you.
    Cheers,

Maybe it's hard of hearing. :)

Yes, but the login page is all 80 columns until you get to select the
Mode 7 stuff. If you start it all on a port you can have BBC graphics
from the getgo. It's a bit more work, sure, but not too much.

Ah thanks for the heads up, it should be doing 40 column ascii if it can't detect your terminal and 80 for modern clients, I'll look in to why it's sending you 80 column on the Beeb.

OK well, you got me second guessing myself but I'm pretty sure it was
    80.
