Anyone else here a baseball fan? Or just enjoy going to the park a few times a year with friends?

Well we're in the dog days of summer, and about halfway through
the MLB season.
I'd say things are looking good for my beloathed Mariners, but
second place doesn't mean much when you're seventh in the league.
Can they close the gap with Houston? Probably not, but stranger
things have happened. This team lives and dies on miracles.
Over in Japan, the Yakult Swallows continue turning the tables,
standing ten games over the Yomiuri Giants. Similar to the
Yankees and Mets, the Swallows have traditionally been the
underdog in their own city, so it's always nice to see them
succeed.
For Indy ball, the American Association's Milkmen continue their
skid, turning 20-16 into 22-26. It's not enough to put them out,
but it certainly isn't going to help them catch the Chicago Dogs,
who have gone from 22-14 to 32-16 in that same span. Like the
MLB, however, there's still half a season left, so hopefully they
can get themselves in gear.

I am. I watch, listen, or attend just about every Angels game. So this season has been such a mixed bag.
I feel bad about that fracus with the Mariners and think that Phil Nevin really hurt the team and our chances of making the post season with his transparent plan of retribution and should not be re-instated as interim manager we he comes off his suspension. Joe
On the other hand, Ohtani is a show in himself, many games (and every game he pitches lately) and Trout is still very special, but strike-outs have plagued us. Whatever happened to "choke up and make contact" when you have 2 strikes?
raised in New England, so am a lifelong Red Sox fan. I also follow (and attend some games) here where I live now (Pensacola, FL) our AA-Level
team, the Pensacola Blue Wahoos (affiliated with the MLB Miami Marlins).

The Wahoos have been thrashing the Trash Pandas this year, which
is a bummer.
Do the Marlins have anyone good coming up through AA?
Also, I know surprisingly little about the Sox, for how good
they are. I recognize a few names off their roster, but that's about it.
It's not strictly baseball-related, but are you a snowbird, or
navy?
As silly as it was, I love it. The As and Ms have been neck-and-neck for so
long that it's good to see a real rivalry resurface. A good brawl, nobody got
too roughed up, and some good camaraderie between the players.
100% agree that Nevin has to go, though. You can't lose your head like that
over a HBP.

I know TTO has been argued everywhere ad nauseam, but the decline of smallball
really is sad. Some of the most exciting plays come on lucky contact.
decades. I'm still a fan though, no matter what. Looks like the
Yankees are running away with things this year in the AL East.
Retired Navy. Did my last tour here, and stayed. Been here 20 years
now and love the place. We even have a pro (A-level) hockey team here, which I'm a season ticket holder for. ;-)
I think I saw that you were from the Seattle area. Did a 6-year tour
there on a ship, and loved it. Went to many a Mariners game there, both
in the KingDome and the new place. Was there when they imploded the KingDome and that was pretty interesting. The Mariners were actually
good for a while when I was there. :-)
