So, I'm wondering... with Biden being the apparent next President and with him promising a $200 tax on each semi-auto rifle and "high capacity" magazines, will
the Coast Guard be up to the task of responding to all the expected boating accidents? Just wondering....

Seriously? You are actually unaware of the "boating accident" trope so popular on the Internet and social media forums?

    How disappointing.

Joe Biden has stated on at least one occassion that his policy regarding firearms will begin with a $200 tax for modern sportintg semiautomatic rifles. Essentially he would require them to be registered under the NFA (and we're talking AR's, AK's, possibly Mini Thirty and Mini-14 types as well), as well as "high capacity" magazines.

I understood that part. I thought maybe his discussion about this policy
might have started with guns and somehow ended with "blah, blah, you know
    the Thing... boating accidents!"

Since then I have seen your post mentioning a comedy thing going on social media. I still have not seen it yet so maybe I am not socializing enough.

It's a joke, based on the idea when the day comes to turn in or report
to the government how many guns you have, you claim you lost them in a
boating accident and you can't recall what part of the lake they were lost
    in.

It's more like 25 years ago, during the 94 AWB people began worrying about forced confiscations, and excuses to why they don't have weapons that sales records show they have. Online sites such as AR15.com were common sites where the boating joke persists.
