• 2021 vs. 2022

    January, 2021:

A bunch of dumbasses storm Congress. Some of them get in trouble because
the Federal authorities find posts on Facebook where they discuss traveling
to DC for the rally and where some of the dumber ones brag about
    participating in the rally's aftermath.

The peanut gallery, and pretty much anyone with any sense: "They deserve
to get in trouble for participating in the storming of Congress."

    Since January, 2021:

Facebook, Twitter, and other social media platforms have become extra
zealous about what they will allow *certain* types of people to post.
Those certain types of people seem to be mostly conservative, usually Americans, and often white. Some people continue to find themselves in legal troubles over social media posts.

People with any sense: "Some of them sound like they are getting what they deserve, but the censors and law enforcement only seem to be targeting a certain demographic while allowing others (like leaders of known terrorist organizations) to continue to use their platforms."

The peanut gallery: "They are getting what they deserve."

    2022:

An angry non-white-supremacist has been posting a bunch of threatening things on popular social media platforms about how he hates, and wants to kill, people, white and otherwise. While he was apparently on the radar of the FBI and other law enforcement, they decide to do nothing, apparently because he does not "fit their profile" of a domestic terrorist.

So one day he puts on a gas mask, lets off smoke bombs in a New York subway and, as he pretty much promised on social media, shoots a bunch of people.

People with any sense: "If law enforcement knew about his social media
history and threats, why didn't they do anything about it?"

The peanut gallery: "Guns are bad!"
