    From Phil Taylor@1:275/201 to All on Wednesday, June 01, 2022 22:39:21
    I have used about every free smtp mail server including google, aol, yahoo and even hosted my own server and it's conintinue to fail sending any any recover or validate passwords.

    I am thinking the issue has do something with Mystic and or the config file

    SMTP Auth Type | CRAM-MD5

    220 smtp.mail.yahoo.com ESMTP ready
    [...]
    250 STARTTLS
    STARTTLS
    220 2.0.0 Ready to start TLS
    [...]
    250 AUTH PLAIN LOGIN XOAUTH2 OAUTHBEARER

    It doesn't look like Yahoo supports CRAM-MD5 as an auth method. Maybe try setting it to Login or Plain.

    Also make sure you have cryptlib installed:

    I remember whats happening now, Yahoo will successfully authenticate but then fail because Mystic is trying to send the email as sysop@<domain name>:

    235 2.7.0 Authentication successful
    MAIL FROM:<sysop@bbs.nrbbs.net>
    550 Request failed; Mailbox unavailable

    We'll need to be able to configure the "send from" email address in Mystic for this to be able to work.

    I have this "done already but I just haven't had time to test it. There will be a resetmail.ini that can be defined by theme or globally in the data folder that will override the defaults. It looks like this:

    ; Any text after [Text] is used as the e-mail content
    ;
    ; @CODE@ will be replaced in the [Text] section with the code required
    ; for password reset. Traditional MCI codes are available for from and
    ; subject lines but not in Text unless enabled by setting textmci to true

    [General]
    from_name = |BN
    from_addr = sysop@|DN
    subject = E-mail validation code for |BN
    textmci = false

    [Text]
    Enter the following code when prompted by the BBS to validate e-mail:
    @CODE@

    ... Help! I can't find the "ANY" key.

    Looks like I accidentally pasted the one for e-mail validation but you get the idea :)
