    Hello All,

I was thinking of bringing back the FG BBS List. Something like:

    BBS Name
    Sysop name
    Fidonet AKA
    BBS Software
    Telnet address/Phone #
    Website (if applicable)
Short description (less than 200 chars)

Would you use something like this?

There's a chance I could write a door to use that format or something later on.

Yep! I've started visiting other BBS' more and more recently. It's great to check out other systems.

I was thinking of doing something similar but more akin to a nodelist type of thing where systems could be pinged to check on their status. It could even be collated by an echo maybe.

There've been several projects like that over the years. BBSFinder is the first one that came to mind. A more recent one was BBS Nexus. Unfortunately, both failed due to lack of interest by their owners.

    Sean,

A BBS can use all the publicity it can get these days.

I just post my ad out once a month...I want folks to logon because
they want to, not because they have to. There are far too many BBS's
who flood the BBS Ads echoes with numerous postings on their BBS
    every day...IMO, it's massive overkill.

It really wouldn't be hard to write a door that could handle this even as a flatfile format (typed file up to 32,767 entries). It'd be like the US BBS List door.

Lots of options when it comes to this.

    Dan,

i don't understand daily bbs ads... that's what makes that echo unusable...

As noted, I post mine once a month...that's it. I have the filter
for duplicates ON in all of the BBS Ads echoes, so the majority of
these are purged. After 30 days, they can post again, but anything
after that is deleted as a duplicate.

The USBBS List door was real nice. While not actually online, I think

You'd do better at it than I would. I can write a batchfile for the BBS,
