Hopefullly she will be better. I'm to the stage where I'm feeling good
enough to tackle some new things but still leaving others be. Tonight's supper will be roasting a blue hubbard squash, baking some chicken
thighs (can do both at the same time) and adding something else, maybe
the left over kasha from last night.
Cook them down in big batches, pick the meat off the bones and freeze
in maybe 2 cup quantities. Freeze extra stock but keep some in the
fridge for immediate use. The chicken can be used in various ways; I
have some chicken casserole recipies that I used "picked off the bones from stock making" chicken.

Not looking good. She had to call in sick again today, just none stop coughing. Dry unproductive cough. She's going to attempt to see
family doc today.

We had ground turkey and a can of manwich with some winter veg. The manwich is waaaaay to sweet, first time in 30 years we had it and
probably the last time. ;)

I normally just throw it away as there's not much flavour or goodness
left in it.

Believe me I won't ever buy another can. :) My own spicing is much better. (Heck I even attempted to tart up the can with onion and
garlic)

Good; what about a prednisone burst (6 days, taking 6 the first day, 5
the second, etc until just one the final day)? That, in conjunction
with antibiotics, will knock down the bronchitis for me.
Reading the message from Jim Weller that listed the ingredients, it's nothing that would have ever come home with us. Too many sugars, not enough spices.
Right! The soup was good; we'll be having more of it tonight. It has a
lot of chicken in it plus brown rice, green beans, carrots and peas. I usually buy frozen veggies for it, used to get the mixed blend until we figured out Steve's corn allergy made that one a "no go".

The antibiotics seem to be kicking it's but now! She's just home from
her midnight shift and reports she didn't have a coughing fit all
night.

Yeah it was a purchase of "Hey remember manwich from when you were a
kid?" and as I said it won't be bought again. :)

We use frozen veggies as well all winter long. When farmers market is open and I can get fresh local produce I do. I also freeze a lot of
that myself.
Kids were up last night for Sunday super and I make a pork tenderloin
with rice (cooked in home made chick stock) with a mushroom gravy I
had in the freezer, and frozen local carrots, with frozen "Winter veg" mix.
Turned out good.

Jamaican meat pie... is that like the patty? We have a local place
(in a bad part of town) that makes the best Jamaican patty's around.
City Patties - Beef, Chicken, Jerk Chicken, Veggie, Calaloo N Salt
Fish, Ackee N Salt Fish, Curry Shrimp. That's the entire menu. ;)

doing much of anything. I sat down to the sewing machine for the first time in weeks, yesterday. Didn't do much but hemmed a pair of fleece
pants I'd made for Steve.
It's a good quick and easy meal, probably a good one for a beginning
cook. When I make it for our small group at church, I usually make
enough so I can put 2 or 3 meals worth of left overs (planned overs, in this case) in the freezer.

I pretty much always get planned left overs. :) Not last night

fat. And

May be trying that shortly as they had some scalops and shrimp on sale plus we have lake perch in the freezer as well.

To be honest I don't know, I will ask them when I'm in next, I don't
quite know how to describe it. Salty, Vegital, hint of spicy, pepper. Kind of like that...

At least I know how to sew and make a replacement. (G) Couldn't quite match the color of the coat but I came pretty close. Most people won't notice the difference.
We ended up doing the pancake on Saturday--tried frying it in a
different pan, using part whole wheat pastry flour. It turned out good.

She was able to find a belt at the sally ann that is close enough that
she could wear the coat again. (It looked funny without the belt)

We did shrimp and rice. Last night I made a batch of meatballs froze
two bags (8 per bag) and wipped up some pasta, a tomato sauce and
done. ;)
My daughter came and stole some and we both ate some and have enough
left for tonight.
