Hy-Vee is my "Go-To" grocery store. I make good use of their curbside pickup for staple items. For meat and much produce I prefer Humphrey's

We've yet to try a curbside pick up but our girls have appreciated it.

I only use curbside for staple items. For fresh stuff I still prefer
to shop in-store and select my own. But, canned/frozen/pre-packaged

I like to shop in person too--get to get the best looking produce, the exact cut of beef, etc.

    Bingo!

I appreciate it. And I notice that other grocers are offering curbside pickup as a service. As Jack Kennedy said "A rising tide lifts all
    boats"

I think all of them did in WF in 2020.

Probably pandemic driven. Many businesses/restaurants now offer curbside
pickup of pre-ordered goods. But, Hy-Vee has offered curbside and its
companion - delivery since they came to town. Previously only my favourite
meat market/produce store (Humphrey's) offered delivery. I noote, too,
the Hy-Vee has reduced the threshold for free curbside to U$25 orders
and for free delivery to $75 (from $100) - exclusive of tip for the
    driver.

market - where all meat is "service meat" and the produce is bought
and hauled in by their own trucks - mostly from local providers.
Except the "tropical" things like citrus .... and even then they go
pick it up from the grower in their own trucks. But I do watch the sales/adverts and will pounce on bargains.

We only get the Lidl and Food Lion flyers now, with the local paper but
do most of our shopping elsewhere. I know, I could go on line to check

I get e-mail links/flyers from all my stops - including GFS. And I
have their loyalty/discount cards on my phone. Bv)= Gotta save it
    where I can, doncha know?

    I do, that's why I buy a lot of Wegman's house brands. (G)

Does Weggies offer that only at their on-site station? Hy-Vee offers
the "fuel saver" savings at the "Fast & Fresh" c-store/gas station co-
located on their lot. And at all Casey's locations. They are both from
the same town (Ankeny) in Iowa ... so, there is probably some interlocking directorates.

    Hi Sean,

Which we are, also Costco as they have cheaper propane than the local
    gas company.

Out here, Costco told our area that it was not wealthy enough to earn
the privilege of having a Costco so we just have a Sam's Club. In

We have Sam's; it opened up about 6 years ago. I think there's one in
Raleigh also, never checked it out. They have Costco there, right near Wegman's. We'd do a Costco run, then go over to Wegman's for lunch and
shopping there before the one in WF opened up. Raleigh also has a BJ's
but after doing a couple of walk thrus and being less than impressed, we declined a membership there.

front of our Sam's Club is a small "propane exchange" machine that has really good prices on pre-filled five-pound propane tank exchanges.
Across the hill, the local Home Depot has a massive (holds 50 tanks!) propane exchange setup. If you are a residential customer for bulk propane, Tractor Supply Company
generally has better prices than any of the local bulk propane
    suppliers.

Costco will fill our tanks at a price per gallon fee. The local gas
company in town charges a flat rate, no matter how much is put in. Since
we pick up other things at Costco and fill the truck's gas tank, it
makes more sense to get our propane there, especially since we take 2 or
    3 cylinders to fill.

It's been a year or more since I've looked at propane prices since I
moved into my apartment since I don't need to use propane for heat anymore.

We heat with natural gas; the bills for that and electricity combined
are much lower than the total electric house we were renting on the
    other side of town.

My local Sam's Club is about a ten minute drive also depending on what time of day you're trying to get there.

Our drive isn't too bad. The Sam's Club is right near Wegman's so we
    will usually combine a trip.
