    2. I bought a new kingpin for the 5th wheel. This was a replacement
for the original, which generated a lot of jerking (driving down the
road listening to the keys bouncing off of the dash, gotta love
driving I-5 from San Diego to he Oregon border, several times). The
ad said specifically free shipping anywhere in the US, I read it about
4 times before I started the order process. At the last possible
instant the $350 price jumped to $690 when they tacked on the shipping
to Alaska. I cancelled the order and fired off a nasty gram telling
them why I'd done so. I also informed them that their ad was very misleading, practically illegal actually, since it didn't say
"Continental US" and it should be fixed. I got a nice reply asking
for my address, where I wanted it shipped, and they would honor the
price stated in the ad. Good company.

At least they honored their ad. Next question -- did they change their
    ad after you caught them?

A grocery store we used to shop at in Columbia had a policy that if you
paid more for a product than it was listed for on the shelf or in a
flyer ad, then you got the product free if you brought it to their
attention. We took them up on that when we were charged about $25 for a
ten pound ham for which the price on the shelf was $1.39 per pound.
They gave us the ham free and I saw them dash back to the meat counter
    to correct the shelf price.

On another occasion, we took back a container of clam dip that was more
than two years past sell by date. The clams has some sort of red aura surrounding them. I don't know what it was, but did not want to
experiment. Again, we got a refund and they immediately went back to
check the shelf stock -- found another container that was also more than
    two years over.

Dave asked the same question. The short answer is "I dunno".
The long answer is "This was probably back in 2007, and frankly
I've forgotten if I ever checked."
I was happy to get the kingpin, it worked great and is still on the
5th wheel. Even though that 5th wheel is sitting on it's brake
drums and will probably never be towed any where, got a building
    partially covering it now.
It was a period where I contacted 3 different manufacturers about
things and they all went way overboard to satisfy me. The first
was a small digital camera the I dropped, or maybe it was Connie,
and the flash broke. I could NOT figure out how to get to it to
try and replace it. I emailed the manufacturer and asked them.
They said to mail it to them. The replaced it with a newer model.
The second was a problem with my extension ladder. I lived in a
garden level basement house...so it was a long ways up to the roof
where ice dams would build up in the winter. Because of the cold
flappers on the ladder broke, cold and plastic are not friends.
I asked them where I could buy some. They air freighted me a new
    set at no cost.
