    Quoting Ruth Haffly to Dave Drum <=-

    I harvest puff balls in my front yard. They are growing in the area
    over the root system of the cherry tree that I lost to a wind storm

    I've never had them.

    They are delicious. There is one species aptly named giant puffball;
    a single slice from the middle section will fill your largest frying
    pan.

    Cheers

    Jim

    My largest fry pan is 12", had a 14" one for a time but gave it away
    when the girls left home. I'll have to look into the puff ball; we have
    a regular mushroom vendor at the farmer's market. We gave him some
    Lion's Mane a couple of times when the tree we got it from produced some
    huge ones. IIRC, the first one was over 7 pounds, second wasn't quite
    that big but still right fair sized.
