• TBBS doors

From Ryan Fantus@1:218/820 to All on Wednesday, August 03, 2022 12:05:26
Hey friends, does anyone have a line to registered TBBS games or anything like that? I would particularly like to find a game called Bandwarz or Bandwars or something to that effect. I played this as a kid and liked it and have been searching for it for years.

    Thanks!

i ask for the filename because i have my own very large file collection, plus other site's collections i've been collecting since the 90s. so if i have the filename i can usually find it.

No idea. I never actually saw an archive for it back in the day, just played it on a local BBS.

trolls say stuff just to get a reaction. the troll word is really overused by morons on the internet.

sometimes i do troll people but it's to be funny and it's obvious. i don't do it to upset people. when they get upset over dumb shit it's funny to me.

    I don't do it here.

asking for a filename for an achive is NOT trolling.
I have a huge file collection that i have added to for like 25 years or more. i have stuff i havent even gone through yet. i just use to grab whatever i could get my hands on to preserve.

things are going missing every day and history is being overwritten.
it's hard to actually look into some things that happened in the past because things are being lost.

really? you weren't around for the "tearline wars"? that's where the tearline strippers and retear tools came from... those then lead directly to the PID/TID specification to eliminate the unwanted advertising in tearlines that was being done... especially the "unregistered" part...

maybe... i don't recall when it was really going on but it definitely did... the main idea behind them was to strip the tearlines of any text or to retear them with some text the sysop wanted rather then advertising "XXX software [unregistered]" which some people found annoying or offensive...

it really got going when it was discovered that some software would place a tearline, another software would replace it with something else, and maybe another one would, too... of course, the last one in the line won and that was generally the tosser unless the sysop set up some post-processing thing after the tosser was done... yeah, it got rather ugly...

FWIW: fastecho has the option built in... i used to use it so all messages posted from my system didn't have tearlines at all... they're not required by the spec so ;)
