It's interesting that, though you cannot read utf-8 properly in
Aftershock, the message you forwarded using it, looks ok in a
utf-8 compatible reader like this (HotdogEd).
That's bizarre.
It seems that when reading, Aftershock recognizes the message's CHRS kludge and does the corresponding translation to display it properly, at least for CP866, CP437 and LATIN-1 (unfortunately not for UTF-8).
When replying or forwarding, it makes no conversion on the quoted/forwarded text.
